DhanDiary ("we", "our", "us") provides finance tools that keep your information private by design. This policy explains which data we collect, why we collect it, and how you can stay in control.

1. Data We Collect

We only collect the data needed to provide budgeting, sync, and support services.
Profile details

Name (optional) and email address for account creation, authentication, and support.

Finance entries

Income and expense records, categories, notes, attachments, and metadata you add to the app.

Diagnostics

Device model, OS version, crash logs, and anonymized usage data that help us improve stability.

2. How We Use Data

  • Show ledgers, charts, insights, and reminders inside the DhanDiary apps.
  • Authenticate you securely and keep your account in sync across devices.
  • Provide optional backups and restores via NeonDB infrastructure.
  • Research bugs or performance bottlenecks (aggregated metrics only).

We never sell or rent personal data. Marketing partners do not receive your finance information.

3. Cloud Backup & NeonDB

Opt-in

Cloud sync is optional. If disabled, all records stay encrypted on your device only.

Transit

When enabled, entries travel over HTTPS (TLS 1.2+) to NeonDB-managed storage.

At rest

NeonDB encrypts storage at rest per their compliance controls. Only authenticated sessions tied to your account can retrieve data.

4. Security Practices

  • Key material and credentials are stored in secure vaults with rotation policies.
  • Transport security enforced across the app, API, and admin tooling.
  • Application code undergoes regular dependency updates and vulnerability scans.
  • Access to production data is limited to authorized engineers supporting incidents.

5. Sharing & Third Parties

We do not grant third-party marketers access to your personal or financial data. The limited partners we use act as processors:

  • NeonDB — encrypted database hosting for backup and sync.
  • Authentication providers (if you choose social login) — identity verification only.
  • Analytics & crash tooling — aggregated usage for reliability tracking.

6. Your Rights

Access & portability

Request an export of your ledger data or use in-app export tools when available.

Deletion

Clear local data in settings or email us to remove backups from NeonDB.

Preference management

Toggle cloud sync, marketing emails, or crash reporting inside the app at any time.

7. Retention & Data Residency

Local data lives on your device until you delete the app or clear storage. Cloud backups stay active while your account remains in good standing or until a deletion request is completed. NeonDB currently provisions infrastructure in regions compliant with applicable Indian and global privacy regulations.

8. Children’s Privacy

DhanDiary is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child provided personal information, reach out via the contact methods below so we can remove it.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this document to reflect new features, legal requirements, or security practices. Material updates will be announced in-app and via release notes, and the effective date above will change.
